“TSIDKENU” (si-kay-noo) is a Hebrew word meaning “righteousness”.
It is a nine part teaching series focused on exploring Christianity. Its purpose is to introduce people to the basic foundational truths of the Christian faith, and to encourage them to explore aspects of it in a new light.
Tsidkenu is designed for anyone ages 15 years and up. Both adults and young adults will be challenged and strengthened by this series.
“Tsidkenu – God of righteousness” is a documentary about the making of a movie. It follows the lives of 6 young people, and depicts their reactions to a catastrophic world-wide event, tracing their journeys as they try to make sense of their world in the light of all that has happened. This event stirs in each of the characters a deep desire to seek to gain the equilibrium that only righteousness can bring, and consequently causes each of them to think about Christianity. Viewers journey with each character as they struggle with the basic questions of life, and explore the answers that only God holds for them.
NB: This series is essentially a documentary about the making of an imaginary movie. As the documentary develops, the actors, directors and production staff from the movie Tsidkenu are seen to be discussing the central themes of the movie, as well as each character’s experience, thoughts and emotions. Through this discussion, aspects of Christianity are presented and explored.
Material is presented on three levels, that is, watching (visuals, pictures, effects), reading (Bible texts and summaries), and listening (interviews).
The purpose of this is to cater to all learning styles.
Used as a series of 9 episodes, Tsidkenu is extremely thought provoking, making the viewer search and ponder what this life is all about.
Each video is approximately 20 minutes in length, and focuses on a different topic central to the Christian faith.
Tsidkenu is very flexible in how it can be used. However the format which is most encouraged is to show each video in a relaxed group setting, then break up into small discussion groups, and encourage viewers to express their own reactions to the characters in the movie. This provides a non-threatening medium through which viewers can begin to formulate their own questions and then seek answers to them.
No, Tsidkenu is specifically designed to reduce preparation time for leaders. In preparation, it is recommended that each leader reads a short 1-2 page summary on the relevant episode before each meeting, which is contained in the leaders guide. This explains the aim and overview of each episode, its major teaching points, applicable Biblical references, and suggested questions for discussion.
